The Corner Shop, Orba

Well what a different world I am now in. As most of you know the Corner Shop was opened by Julie and Georgie in 1995 under a different name and location. In recent years it moved to Avenida Fontilles and in April this year I took over the shop. I moved here from England in the January, so all in all, a complete life change for myself and my husband Dave. I worked for a large corporate company in the UK and wanted a slower pace of life so looked for a business to suit that requirement. Not quite worked out as planned, to say I was a little naive is an understatement :) The shop is hard work (thank goodness I have a fantastic mentor in Julie and the knowledge & support from Karen and Paula), longer hours than I had anticipated, but I absolutely love it. We have a very loyal customer base which have continued to support us - THANK YOU. In addition to adding new products to the stock weekly, we are also attracting new customers, which is fantastic.
Our little family in Spain consists of two dogs who came with us from the UK, plus two cats adopted from SCAN, so life is never dull. We have settled in Orba and have been made very welcome by everyone we have met, we feel very at home here in a very short period of time. Like everyone who makes life changing decisions, we obviously had periods when we wondered if we were doing the right thing; leaving family, friends and a home we had for many years. Well so far so good, no regrets.
