Lekeitio, eta Eskolapeko botika

Lekeitio, Bizkaiko Lea Artibai eskualdean kokatuta dagoen udalerri euskaldun bat da. Bilbotik 56 kilometrora eta Donostiatik 72ra dago. 2016. urtean 7.187 biztanle zituen. Historian zehar arrantzari estuki lotua, portu garrantzitsua du, eta gune turistiko nabarmena da.

Otoio eta Lumentza mendiek inguratzen dute, eta Lea ibaiak zeharkatzen du. Herria badia txiki baten mendebaldean dago kokatuta, eta badia horren erdian Garraitz edo San Nikolas irla dago, udalerriko zati ere badena. Isuntza hondartza udalerriaren erdigunean dago kokaturik.

Andra Mariaren Jasokundearen eliza herriaren harribitxietako bat da. XV. mendean egindako basilikako eraikuntza lanetan tradizio gotikoa ageri da, baina haren aurretik eraikin erromaniko bat zegoen.

Jai esanguratsuenak San Pedroak (Ekainaren 28tik Uztailaren 1era) eta San Antolinak (Irailaren 1etik 8ra).

Botikari dagokionez, oraingo kokalekuan 1972az geroztik dago. Valentin Bazán Cárcamo jauna zen orduko botikari titularra, eta urte askoan Abaroa kaleko 2 zenbakian zegoen farmazia historikoa lekuz aldatzea erabaki zuen. Bazán jaunak 1953. urtean erosi zion botika Luis Ugalde y Mújica jaunari, 55 urtetan zehar ihardun zena herrian (1898tik 1953ra). Honek era berean Mauricio Díaz jaunari erosi zion. Herriko erregistroetan beste botikari batzuen izenak agertzen badira ere, Díaz jauna da ziurtasunez farmazia honetan ezagutzen den lehen botikaria.

Bazán jaunaren arora bueltatuz, 1975ean jubilatu zen eta bere seme Ignacio Bazán Martínezek hartu zituen ardurak 1986ra arte. Ondoren ordurarte herriko beste botikaren jabe zen bere emazte Blanca Díaz Montero anderea egon zen farmaziaren buru 1988an Ana Pilar Arrieta Bereciartua andereak erosi zuen arte. 2017ko apirilaz geroztik botika-bulegoaren titularra Jokin Txakartegi Urizar jauna da.


Lekeitio y la farmacia del Eskolape

Lekeitio es un municipio euskaldun de la comarca vizcaína Lea Artibai situado a orillas del golfo de Vizcaya. Con una población de 7187 habitantes el año 2016, es un pueblo tradicionalmente pesquero pero turístico a la vez gracias a su privilegiado paisaje que aglutina playa (Isuntza), mar y monte (Otoio y Lumentza). La villa de Lekeitio se abre al mar en una pequeña bahía que tiene en su centro la isla de Garraitz ó San Nicolás, isla a la que se puede llegar andando con la marea baja.

El casco urbano de Lekeitio conserva aún la traza medieval. Entre sus edificios destaca la Basílica de la Asunción que data del siglo XV y es una relevante construcción gótica tardía declarada Monumento Nacional. Destaca su exterior, y en especial la fachada occidental, y su magnífico retablo gótico flamenco del siglo XVI, considerado de los mejores de Bizkaia; así como una talla mariana Antiguako Ama (en euskara) del siglo XII, en su propio retablo barroco.

Las fiestas más populares son los San Pedros (del 28 de Junio al a de Julio) y los San Antolines (del 1 al 8 de septiembre).

En cuanto a la farmacia, fué Don Valentín Bazán Cárcamo quién trasladó la farmacia al lugar actual, la cual había adquirido en 1953 a Don Luis Ugalde y Mújica situada por aquel entoces en la Avda Pascual Abaroa, 2. Éste a su vez se la había comprado a Don Mauricio Díaz a finales del siglo XIX. Pese a que en los registros municipales se nombren a otros farmacéuticos del pueblo anteriores, Don Mauricio Díaz es considerado como el primer dueño farmacéutico de esta farmacia.

Volviendo a la era de Don Valentín Bazán, éste se jubiló en el año 1975 y la farmacia pasaría a manos de su hijo Don Ignacio Bazán Martínez, quién desempeñaría la profesión durante diez años en esta farmacia. Cedió entonces la botica a su esposa Doña Blanca Díaz Montero, la cual era la propietaria de la otra farmacia del pueblo, pero poco tiempo más estaría dado que en Marzo de 1988 traspasó la farmacia a Doña Ana Pilar Arrieta Bereciartua. Tras casi 30 años, en Abril del año 2017 la farmacia pasaría a manos de Don Jokin Txakartegi Urizar.


Lekeitio and the Chemist’s in Eskolape

Lekeitio is a Basque municipality in the Bizkaia region of Lea Artibai, located on the shores of the Bay of Biscay. With a population of 7187 inhabitants in the year 2016, it is a traditional fishing village but at the same time incorporates tourism thanks to its privileged landscape that combines beach (Isuntza), sea and mountain (Otoio and Lumentza).
Lekeitio opens to the sea in a small bay with the island of Garraitz or San Nicolás in the centre of the bay, which can be reached by walking at low tide. The town centre of Lekeitio still preserves its medieval heritage. Among its buildings stands the Basilica of the Assumption, dating from the XV century, which is a relevant late Gothic building declared a National Monument, with emphasis on its exterior, and in particular the western façade, The magnificent Gothic altarpiece of the XVI century is considered one of the best in Bizkaia; Also featured is a Marian carving Antiguako Ama (in Euskara) from the XII century, in its own Baroque altarpiece.
Popular local fiestas are San Pedros (June 28th – June 30th) and San Antolin (Sept 1st – 8th).

As for the pharmacy, it was Mr Valentín Bazán Cárcamo who transferred the pharmacy to the present location which he bought in 1953 from Mr Luis Ugalde in Mújica, located originally in the Avda Pascual Abaroa 2, who in turn had bought it from Mr Mauricio Diaz in the late nineteenth century. Although in the municipal registers other pharmacists of the previous town are named, Mr Mauricio Diaz is considered the first pharmaceutical owner of this pharmacy.

Returning to the era of Mr Valentín Bazán, he retired in 1975 passing the pharmacy into the hands of his son Mr Ignacio Bazán Martínez, who would perform the profession for ten years in this pharmacy. He then left the pharmacy to his wife Mrs Blanca Diaz Montero, who was the owner of the other pharmacy in the town, in March 1988 she transferred the pharmacy to Mrs Ana Ana Pilar Arrieta Bereciartua. After almost 30 years, in April of 2017 the pharmacy would pass into the hands of Mr Jokin Txakartegi Urizar.
