Nestled in the hills of Silves, the Odelouca River Valley is home to Quinta do Francês vineyard. GPS: 37° 13′ 1.52″ N 8° 30′ 32.53″ W
This is the ideal soil (on south facing slopes) where the red varieties of vine, Trincadeira, Aragonês (tempranillo), Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah were planted in 2002.

The hot and dry Algarvian climate, can over stress the vines, but fanned by the cool Atlantic sea breezes caming from the South, do reduce the over ripening process.
On the other hand the poor schist, clay soil, that limits the water intake, can create just enough stress to concentrate the grapes, thus producing the remarkable wine from this vineyard.

Those reasons along with extreme care on selecting and handling our precious grapes enables us to produce medal winning wines, from the vine to the bottle.
