WHAT IS MESSY PLAY?

Messy Play is an exciting and fun way for your child to explore and learn. They will be able to use all their senses – taste, touch, smell, sight and sound to investigate a wide range of materials. These materials will change on a weekly basis and will help your child to learn about the intriguing world they live in.

Each session lasts for 1 hour and all children must be accompanied by an adult. The children can move freely amongst all the activities at their own pace. The session is open, so you are free to turn up at any time during the session.

Our aim is to take the stress and cleaning out of Messy Play for you. Your child will receive all the benefits of Messy Play and you will have the peace of mind of not having all the mess at home.
At our Messy Play, you can expect to find painting, jelly, gloop, foam, flour, spaghetti and much, much more.

EDUCATIONAL VALUE

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Provides practice with GROSS motor skills (big movements), such as using hands and feet.
Helps with FINE motor skills (precise, small movements) and coordination by pouring, stirring, shaking, measuring etc.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT
Messy Play provides plenty of opportunities for children to be creative and express themselves, without having to worry about an end product. This in turn helps to build a child’s self-esteem.

SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Children’s confidence grows with Messy Play as they are in charge of their own learning and cannot go wrong. They will be able to feel good about choices they have made and take pride in their own observations. They have plenty of opportunities to work with other children, which can help them to learn sharing and turn taking skills.

LANGUAGE AND LITERACY DEVELOPMENT
Messy Play brings new language to children and provides opportunities for them to practice using it. It gives them fun experiences to talk about to each other and adults. They will practice pre-writing skills as they use the materials by pouring, grasping, showing control and hand to eye coordination.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT
Children learn best when they are actively involved and can see and feel things for themselves. This way they will develop their questioning and problem solving skills. It will enhance an understanding of mathematical concepts, such as full, empty, more/less, sorting, counting etc.

ABOUT ME
I have been a primary school teacher for the last 10 years and I specialise in Early Years education (birth to 5 years of age). I moved to Spain 2.5 years ago in which time I continued to work in an English international school. I have recently had my first child and looked on the Costa del Sol for a Messy Play toddlers group. When I did not find what I was looking for, I started to plan home activities. I thought to myself that if I am looking for this type of group, others might also benefit from the same opportunities. I am a true believer in fun exciting learning experiences and have been fully CRB checked in both England and Spain.
