FIVE NIGHTS/SIX DAYS FULLY-GUIDED TOUR FOR 550 EUROS PER PERSON (PRICE IS BASED ON TWO SHARING AND INCLUDES ALL TRANSFERS, CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATION WITH PRIVATE BATHROOM, BREAKFAST, BIKE AND HELMET HIRE). DAY ONE

Airport pick-up (Malaga or Granada), transfer to your accommodation in Durcal and a welcome drink. Fitting of bicycles and a short ride around town - time permitting.

DAY TWO

Transfer up into the high Sierra Nevada, passing the winter ski resort of Pradollano, to our start point 2,500 metres above sea level at La Hoya de La Mora. After a while taking in the spectacular views we will make our descent to Granada city passing through the pueblos of Guejar Sierra and Pinos Genil. The final 7km is a fun off-road section known by the locals as the Ruta del Colesterol:)

DAY THREE

Granada city to Durcal. We have chosen a pleasant route that passes through several towns in the suburbs of Granada before an off-road section that takes us to the pretty pueblo of Dilar. From there it is quiet country lanes and plenty more off-road before we reach our accommodation in Durcal.

• Route - Granada to Durcal.
• Distance covered 40km.
• Slightly undulating but not too demanding.
• Departure at 10.00 with a ride time of 3-4 hours.
• Support car providing water and fruit.
• Lunch in Durcal (not included in tour price).
• Siesta time.
• Optional late afternoon/early evening ride before drinks and tapas (exclusive of tour price).

DAY FOUR
An anti-clockwise circle of the Lecrin Valley, known by the locals as ‘El Valle de la Alegria’ – The Valley of Happiness:) It’s a very scenic, undulating, ride that passes through, or near to, the villages of Cozvijar, Albuñuelas, Saleres, Restabal, Melegis, Chite, Talara, Acequias and Niguelas, before returning to Durcal. There are numerous opportunities for drinks and photo stops. Accommodation in Durcal.

• Distance covered around 40km.
• Twisty, undulating, some tough sections but it’s not a race!
• Departure at 10.00 with an approximate ride time of 4 hours.
• Support car providing water and fruit.
• Lunch in Durcal or Niguelas (not included in tour price).
• Siesta time.
• Optional late afternoon/early evening ride before drinks and tapas (exclusive of tour price).

DAY FIVE

The descent to the Costa Tropical on the old main road, reaching the coast at Salobreña. From there we will have glorious views of the Mediterranean virtually all the way to our accommodation in the pretty seaside town of La Herradura.

Summary

• Route – Durcal to La Herradura.
• Distance covered around 60km.
• Mostly downhill but with a few gentle uphills. Short, steep climb (walkable) before a final downhill stretch into La Herradura.
• Departure time at 10.00 with a ride time of 4-5 hours.
• Support car providing water and fruit.
• Lunch in one of the seafront restaurants (exclusive of tour price).
• Siesta time.
• Optional late afternoon/early evening ride before drinks and tapas (exclusive of tour price).

DAY SIX

What you do on the final day will largely depend on the departure time of your flight home. The bikes will be free for you to use in La Herradura up until your transfer to the airport.

These tours are not aimed at the cycling professional but we do assume that you know how to handle a bike and have a decent level of fitness, although the support car will be on hand if you do run into difficulties.
A waiver and assumption of risk form must be completed and an adequate insurance policy is also essential. If you hold an EHIC card (https://www.gov.uk/european-health-insurance card) you will be covered for any emergency medical treatment in Spain.
