Cueva Pedro

After 13 happy years in Cueva Pedro, we are putting it up for sale! With both daughters now settled, with their Spanish husbands and children, in homes of their own, Mike and I have decided that now is the time for us to "downsize".

Set in one of the best position in Castilléjar, overlooking this lovely, typical Spanish village in a quiet area yet only a short stroll to the centre with all the amenities one would expect which includes 3 small supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, banks, doctors, hairdressers and, of course, several bars all serving delicious home cooked tapas FREE with your glass of beer or wine!! There is also a weekly market on a Saturday, a great place to stock up on your seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables and to stop off for the obligatory café con leche and tostada con tomate.

Cueva Pedro has very easy access and ample parking both inside and outside the double gates. It is fully secure for children and pets. Outside we have a funky bar, splash pool, roof terrace, barbecue, raised terrace and fully shelved storage in the former garage. It is south facing with sun all day long so the shady pergola is the perfect place to relax with a good book and a glass of something cold.

The former animal corral has been reformed and now offers 2 en-suite guest rooms "Casa Cabras" and "Casa Gallinas", one double and one twin. These rooms have their own private patio with separate entrance to the dining room, ideal should you wish to use these rooms for paying guests. As these two rooms are outside builds we have added dual purpose air con/heating units, enabling the rooms to be used all year round.

The main living accommodation is all cave and is pretty much the same as it would have been centuries ago. We have deliberately kept is so - low beams, very rustic, with small, cosy rooms and we have retained lots of its original features. This means that it is a very easy place to keep warm in the winter, and yet remains beautifully cool in the fierce heat of the summer. In fact, we still sleep under a duvet......even in August!

Entering through the front door, the bathroom leads off from the small hall which then leads to the sitting room. This is such a lovely, cosy room, especially in the winter when it is heated by a state of the art pellet burner, enough to heat the whole cave. We have kept the original fireplace and bread oven with all the little doors which lead to the 3 double bedrooms, all with ample storage. The fully fitted and functional kitchen and large open plan dining room lead off from the sitting room, too. Friends will tell how I love to cook and quite often have 12 or more people seated in the dining room. The room was formerly where the donkey was kept and we have even kept the pig pen which has been turned into a little Wendy House for our grandchildren.

All hot water comes from solar panels on the roof and we have a back up boiler for those rare occasions when we have cloudy days. As we are located at the top of the hill, we have excellent wifi receptions, both inside and outside. We pick up all our tv channels through an Android box.

All we ask is that you love and cherish this very special place as much as we have over the years!! We are selling it fully furnished......not only the furniture but all the pots, pans, cutlery, bedding. etc; we will just remove our personal effects. SO it is all ready for you to move into......just bring your toothbrush!
