Both the guided and self-guided walks offered via this website focus on the Basque foothills of the Pyrenees within Navarra and Gipuzkoa (Spain) and Iparralde (France). Sharing a common language and deep-rooted traditions, together these areas form one of the most stunning and fascinating areas in Europe. Self-guided walks are up to 6 days in length and, in most cases, a shorter, easier route is offered as an alternative to the full route. Each day's route passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the region, and also gives the walker the chance to visit some of the most appealing towns and villages and learn about the ancient and pagan history, local culture and other aspects of life common to these borderlands. Guided day walks and shorter walks/day trips are geared to visitors who would like to get a taste of the landscapes and villages in the region while holidaying in the area - the perfect complement to a stay on the Basque coast such as in San Sebastián.
