AXIAL ART MEETS

Nowadays, we are deeply immersed in a crisis atmosphere and many private art galleries and other public exhibition spaces are closing down. However, we understand that culture is still maintained active, even more than before. This is why we sincerely think that this situation is an incentive for creatives to take control something should be done outside the traditional exhibition areas. AXIAL art_meets is a selective and alternative space for art exhibitions and meetings.

Due to this situation, César Naves and me have agreed on the need to organize this meeting space in our private home in order to generate a new kind of art collecting. The objective being that creatives can continue creating and exhibiting other pieces that are generated from the sale and exhibition of their works..

Although we make a special bet for video art and new digital media, we also realize that there is a lack of collecting for this kind of works. In spite of the fact that new technologies and audiovisual art are very important tendencies in our century and in the current state of art, we know that the habitual collector and the art market are still interested in material art, giving more value to the exclusive object or “fétiche” than to more inmaterial works.

I really doubt if some money will be paid in order to help art and have a direct access to culture; but we must try on the benefit of of creatives, art and culture. In AXIAL art meets we offer an exhibition program of four encounters every year, which can be both individual or collective. The creatives can use any artistic expression as long as they fit to the conditions that we can offer in our space.
