My name is Gertruda and I am an artist. My greatest passion is mosaic. I also paint and draw and I am experimenting to combine this with mosaic. In addition, I have another great passion, which is creating glass jewellery by means of glass fusing. I “ melt” the glass in a special little kiln I have. The results are amazing and you will never know up front or the idea that was in my head, will come out of the kiln the way I hope.. With glass fusing I can also create different shapes and use these in my mosaic, which is and will always stay my biggest passion.

Making mosaic is an ancient craft that nowadays is a form of art. What used to be limited mainly to churches, floors and parks, has now almost unlimited potential and is accessible to everyone. In the bathroom, on mirrors, bottoms of pools, walls and exterior facades, tables, benches, decorative objects and household furniture, paintings etc.. The possibilities are almost endless.

A great inspiration to me is of course Gaudi, who really shows what is possible with mosaic and created an entire park with all kinds of mosaic. Gorgeous bright colours or just plain black and white, making use of various shapes and materials.

Mosaic and glass fusing are fascinating ways to make art. The various materials, the design, the colours, big and small surfaces and lots of different techniques. No 2 mosaics or glass jewellery, are the same. Working with glass has lots of possibilities. From starting with the design until the work is completly finished, it is just a source of fun and pleasure.

The pleasure I have making mosaic and jewellery is responsible for the fact that I want to share my passion with everyone who is open to it. This might be by showing my work, explain what mosaic and glass fusing is and how it is made, or to teach you the technique how to do it yourself and create something beautiful yourself. Everyone can learn this!
