Abella climb

We run a project aiming to develop and facilitate outdoor activities (Climbing, walking, Mountain Biking, Paragliding...) & ecological preservation in one of Catalunya's nicest villages, Abella de la Conca. The mountain refugio (alt 1000m),tucked into the cliffside, and staying in it offers a contribution to developing our project aims. We have 1 double bed room, 2 triple Bed rooms and a 9 person dorm all with breathtaking views and two shared bathrooms.

We also have a wood fired ecological sauna, a cosy sitting room with a traditional stove and a lovely shaded garden and BBQ for you to enjoy your summer evenings.

The refugio has been renovated using an ecological approach. Hot water is provided thanks to solar energy. A wood burning cooker enables you to cook all day long whilst providing heating in all rooms. All appliances are A+++ to reduce electricity consumption. Windows are locally handmade using sustainably managed wood and double glazed argon glass. Roof insulation is made with compressed wood material from the Pyrenees. Walls are made of straw or stone and rendered with lime.
Where possible we have used recycled items (wood burning boiler cooker, cast iron radiators, kitchen unit, tiles, shower doors...) to minimize waste. Building rubble is being used to maintain local tracks.

We are developing the local climbing crags, maintaining & creating paths, and applying permaculture approaches to our land management (including olive groves and fruit orchards).
