Prado Lobero

The Prado Lobero property is surrounded by astounding nature and wildlife - including birds and wild boar. This is the perfect place for keen birdwatchers but is also a convenient base for cultural visits to the cities of Avila, Toledo, Guadalupe and Trujillo. For the energetic, there are well-marked long distance paths through the Gredos mountains, rock pools to discover as well as rafting and horse riding. Please check the information folder provided for leaflets and ideas. Or maybe you just want to unwind. The house has its large terrace, private pool and garden. In the surrounding fields you will find an array fruit trees bearing apples, pears, hazelnuts, olives, plums and figs, depending on the season. In winter, there is a cosy wood-burning stove.

The interior of the house has been newly refurbished. The kitchen and bathrooms are fully equipped and new in 2014. There are three bedrooms; one with a double bed and two with two single beds. A child’s cot and high chair are available. The decor is rustic, quirky and highly functional for a wonderful retreat.

Thirty five years ago, the owners purchased abandoned grazing and agricultural land, a goat shed and a couple of ruins in the Candeleda foothills. They slowly refurbished the farmhouses, keeping them in the traditional “vera” stone style to create an idyllic and comfortable home for their expanding family. They also restored the woodland, orchards and meadows. They made friends with neighbours on the mountain and in the village and invited visitors from all over the world to join them.

We are continuing this tradition of welcome by offering one of the houses – called La Casita de Prado Lobero - for rent as a holiday home for weekends or longer stays. La Finca de Prado Lobero está rodeada de una naturaleza excepcional: prados, bosques, aves jabalíes. Es un punto de partida ideal para amantes de los animales y aves pero también para visitas culturales a ciudades como Ávila, Toledo, Guadalupe y Trujillo. Para los deportistas hay largos paseos por la Sierra de Gredos, baños en las gargantas, rutas a caballo y navegación con canoa en el pantano. Encontrarán más detalles en folletos informativos. Quizás solo buscan desconectar y disfrutar en la terraza, jardín y piscine privada. En los prados encontrarán multitud de frutales: higueras, avellanos, olivos, ciruelos, cerezos…,dependiendo de la temporada. En invierno las estufas con leña de roble dan buen calor.

Se acaba de modernizar la Casita (la cocina y los baños) en 2014. Hay 3 dormitorios: uno con cama doble y los otros con dos camas individuales cada uno. Hay disponibles para niños pequeños una cuna y una trona.

Hace 35 años los propietarios compraron este terreno con prados, cultivos abandonados y casas en ruinas al pie de la Sierra de Candeleda con vistas al Almanzor. Poco a poco se fue recreando en las casas el estilo tradicional “de la Vera” para la comodidad de la familia. También se dio nueva vida a los prados, bosques y frutales. La familia entabló amistad con vecinos y otros candeledanos e invitaban a amigos de todas las nacionalidades a pasar temporadas en Prado Lobero.

Continuamos la tradición hospitalaria al ofrecer en alquiler vacacional la “Casita de Prado Lobero”, tanto para fines de semana o puentes como para períodos más largos.
