It occupies a handsome historic building (a lift is available during the reception's opening hours), and offers 29 rooms for between 1 and 3 guests. Most have private bathrooms, although more economical options with shared bathrooms are also available, and all rooms come with Wi-Fi and heating. Some also boast air conditioning (summer only), and/or balconies, and the superior rooms enjoy views of either the Plaça Reial or La Rambla. There is a drinks machine available in the lobby, and other services include a left-luggage office.

The Pension Villanueva is just steps from the Rambla, Barcelona's most celebrated avenue, and the extraordinary Boqueria market, with its colourful stalls heaped with fresh produce. The narrow lanes of the enchanting Gothic Quarter and the Port Vell (Old Port) are only a few minutes' walk away.
