El Museu Europeu d'Art Modern, expone el mejor arte figurativo contemporáneo. Pertenece a la Fundació de les Arts i els Artistes, la finalidad es la promoción y la difusión del arte figurativo del siglo XX y XXI. La pretensión del MEAM es encontrar un nuevo lenguaje contemporáneo que no reniegue de la tradición sino que surja de ella para dar un salto hacia adelante en el nuevo siglo. Además, la Fundació organiza cada año el Premio de Pintura y Escultura Figurativa, i con la web Figurativas en Red abre una ventana al mundo de las obras de los artistas figurativos contemporáneos.

El MEAM actualmente se situa en el Palau Gomis, entre las callejuelas del Barrio del Born de Barcelona, un barrio en el que la cultura está siempre presente y donde se refleja todo el encanto del casco antiguo, una zona que ha sabido unir tradición y modernidad y que se ha convertido en cita obligada para los turistas interesados en la Barcelona monumental y museística.

El MEAM se diferencia de los otros museos de arte contemporáneo por dar soporte a artistas que practican el arte figurativo. Estas obras no suelen estar expuestas en otros museos, colecciones de fundaciones o instituciones más dedicadas a abstracciones, por las cuales el concepto de contemporaneidad se indentifica más con la experimentación, abstracción, vídeoarte, etc.

The European Museum of Modern Art , MEAM, exhibits the finest Contemporary Figurative Art. It is owned by TheFoundation of Arts and Artists, and the purpose is to promote and diffuse Figurative Art of the 20th and 21st Centuries. The Foundation’s claim is to find a new contemporary language without denying tradition by progressing into the new Century. Moreover, the Foundation of Arts and Artists, organizes each year the Figurativas Painting and Sculpture Awards, and with the wesbiteFigurativas en Red opens a window with the artworks of the Contemporary Figurative artists.

The MEAM is currentlly located at the Gomis Palace, in the middle of the streets of the Born in Barcelona, a neighborhood where culture is always present and reflects the charm of the old part of the city, an area that knew how to mix tradition and modernity, becoming a requiered visit for the tourits interested in the Monumental Barcelona.

The MEAM is different from other Contemporary Art museums because it houses living artists who created Figurative Art. These artworks are hardly seen in other museums, collections or entities, to whom the word Contemporary is identified by experiment and abstraction.
