The Borders and Coastguard Agency was established as a statutory Agency by an Act of the Gibraltar Parliament in 2011. It is a law enforcement agency responsible for maintaining Gibraltar’s border secure and fluid, and protecting against criminal acts that threaten the security of travel. The agency carries out immigration controls and decides the eligibility of foreign visa nationals to enter and stay in Gibraltar, enforces immigration laws and controls the entry to and exit from Gibraltar of people, carrying out security checks and controls on passengers, baggage and cargo at all air and sea passenger terminals and ports.
