Galeria David Marshall

More than fifty years ago, attracted by the climate, light and magnificent scenery David Marshall left his native Scotland, settled in southern Spain and commenced his artistic career.

Inspired by the mountainous surroundings and all the detritus of nature – with workshops in Benahavis, and now Benaojan near Ronda.

David has developed a thriving design business Working with institutional and private clients worldwide.




Interacting with local artesans and foundries, and with his daughter Kristi managing the eponious gallery in Benahavis, David provides profesional solutions to architectural and industrial challenges – staircases, murals, signage, company gifts, trophies, interior design and a long etcétera.

He also continues to exhibit his highly individual sculptures at galleries and shows in Europe and the United States where he has established a studio in the Rockies of Colorado.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland 1942


1962 / 1964
David worked at Zipaquira near Bogota assisting the welding superintendant of Raymond International constructing a thermo electric plant. This was the start of his world with metals.

1965 / 1999
He arrived in Spain after a non ferrous metals course at British Oxygen. He produced his first Sculptures from recycled metals.

Along with jewellery and silverware, they were shown at Marbella’s Saturday Market.
Following a first succesful Sculpture Exhibition at the Marbella Hilton (1969), he sets up a workshop in Mijas, Malaga.
Opened a Gallery in Puerto Banus, Marbella and moved his workshops to Seville. (1981)
Nobel Prize Winner Don Camilo Jose Cela inaugurated the Gallery created by David in Benahavis. (1986)

2000 / 2002
Created a Sculpture Garden along with a studio workshop in his new home near Benaojan, Malaga.

2003 / 2006
Exploring techniques in Bali to combine glass and teak within his work.

2007 / 2009
Starts his new Studio and Sculpture garden at his house in Hahn´s Peak near Steamboat Springs Colorado
Inaugurates Howlsen Place Gallery in Steamboat Springs and presents his Sculptures in Breckenridge CO, Loveland CO and Las Vegas Nevada

2010 / 2011
