Festival Internacional de Francesinhas

A Francesinha é um prato típico da cidade do Porto.
Reunindo algum consenso, atribui-se a sua criação a Daniel David Silva, minhoto de Terras do Bouro, que após estar emigrado, traz as influências do croque-monsieur, confeccionando-a por volta de 1953 num restaurante do Porto.
O nome Francesinha, deve-se ao facto de Daniel David Silva afirmar que "A mulher mais picante que conheço é a francesa".
É constituída por linguiça, salsicha fresca, fiambre e carne de vaca ou, em alternativa lombo de porco assado e fatiado, coberta com queijo (posteriormente derretido).
É regada com um molho à base de tomate, cerveja e piri-piri, e é este molho que faz a diferença!
O acompanhamento de batata frita é facultativo, mas neste festival está incluído no Menu.

Francesinha is a typical dish of Porto city. It all started when a Portuguese immigrant from the North of Portugal returned to his hometown . Inspired by the French “croque monsieur”, he decides to create a sandwich using Portuguese ingredients such as steak or pork meat, different types of sausages, ham and cheese and spicy tomato sauce with beer and chilli on top of it all.This sauce makes all the diference.
The name “Francesinha” was chosen as he considered the French woman the spiciest and hottest of all.
Recently considered as one of the best sandwiches and delights of the world by AOL Travel we want to give Francesinha international prominence as it deserves.
