O Festival Internacional de Balões de Ar Quente teve a sua primeira edição em 1997. Após 20 edições anuais marcadas pelo forte sucesso deste evento, assume-se como um dos maiores e mais importantes festivais da Europa.
O Festival Internacional Balões de Ar Quente pretende promover o balonismo em Portugal entre os amantes do desporto e a comunidade local, gerando um intercâmbio de experiências entre pilotos, bem como o conhecimento técnico e a inovação da actividade.
